BIG, EASY WIN: LSU Blasts Ohio State, Roll to National Championship

When Ohio State drew first blood on Chris Wells' 65-yard touchdown run, no one knew if it was a bad or good thing for the Buckeyes. Either it meant that the Ohio State was ready for this game or that deja vu was underway. And when the Buckeyes put three more points on the board, deja vu looked less likely.

All that quickly changed.

Anyone watching the game could very much feel the momentum shift when Ricky Jean-Francois blocked an Ohio State field-goal attempt. After which the Tigers went on a scoring frenzy, going on a 31-0 run into the third quarter. LSU's QB Matt Flynn (19 of 27, 174 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT) was dynamic, while Ohio State's Todd Boeckman (15 of 26, 208 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs) struggled against Bo Pelini's defensive schemes.

Ohio State's two second-half touchdowns weren't enough to disappoint Bourbon Street, and the LSU Tigers clinched a 38-24 victory and the 2008 National Championship.

And, now, let the talk begin—or continue. Is LSU the best team in the country, or should another squad be kissing that trophy? That we'll never know.
